PEÑAS BLANCAS
In 2017, our founder visited Peñas Blancas, and identified two pressing needs for the school
FIRST

The bathrooms were dilapidated outhouses.
SECOND

The pre-school was a wooden shack with dirt floors.

IN 2018, ELEVA TOOK ACTION ON THE FIRST PROBLEM.
New, sanitary bathrooms were built, complete with a unique ecological bio-degassing system that converts waste into gas to power a new school kitchen which enables students to participate in a free school lunch program.
A large portion of the funds are already secured for the pre-school thanks to our partners Seeds for Progress, Mercon Coffee, and Project Alianza.
Eleva wants to go even further by partnering with Project Alianza, an educational NGO, to implement a tested curriculum that will ensure all 300 children receive a challenging, and comprehensive education.
THE FUNDS WE RAISE WILL GO TOWARDS.

Completing
the construction
of pre-school

Implementing the evidence-base Teaching at the Right Level curriculum pioneered by Pratham, a large Indian education NGO

Supporting
literacy and life skills
in the classroom

To cultivate a strong reading habit among our students, we dedicate 80 more hours of reading development than the standard curriculum to put them on par with their urban peers.
After only one year in our e-learning program at select schools, 87% of participating first and second graders can read and write short passages at grade level.
In the classroom we teach children why sustainability is important and how to practice it.
We actively combat climate change by building all of our schools with local or recycled materials, employing local community members, and empowering the community to implement sustainability practices at a larger scale.
100% of our students will now have access to drinking water, soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes at school.
Nearly a thousand young people have received deparasite medications, a critical treatment for improving health and attendance among children in poor, rural communities.
We prioritize educating girls, because educated women have fewer, healthier children,
and are less likely to drop out of school due to early pregnancies.
Our curriculum for all populations promotes intergender play, and discussion of gender stereotypes,
both proven methods for increasing gender equality.
